Lake Tahoe is the central feature of the Tahoe Watershed, taking up more than 38 percent of the watershed. However, there are hundreds of smaller lakes, ponds, and water bodies in the Region, including Fallen Leaf Lake, Cascade Lake, Echo Lakes, Marlette Lake, Star Lake, Grass Lake, and Spooner Lake. The lakes in the Tahoe Region other than Lake Tahoe are generally located in undeveloped and protected wilderness areas. Only a few of these lakes have any significant development (e.g., Echo Lakes, and Fallen Leaf Lake).
